Storyboard (Mood Board)
A storyboard (or mood board) is the design-led visual that sets a season’s direction — themes, palette, fabrics, and inspiration — and becomes the starting point that a line board turns into a concrete, planned range.
The storyboard answers “what is the season about?”; the line board answers “what exactly are we making, in what colors, at what prices, and how many options?” The handoff between them is where creative direction becomes a commercial range.
That handoff is often where intent gets lost — the mood is set in one tool, then re-created by hand as styles are entered elsewhere. Carrying the storyboard directly into the line board keeps the design intent attached to the styles it inspired.
